Pacifika
Latin-influenced Canadian rock ensemble Pacifika make deeply emotional, melodic pop that mixes in a variety of styles including electric rock, bossa nova, folk, and some electronic flourishes. Showcasing Peruvian-born, former West End Girls lead singer Silvana Kane's knack for heartfelt vocals in Spanish and English, the Vancouver-based band also features guitarist Adam Popowitz, bassist Toby Peter, and percussionist Elliot Polsky. Pacifika released their debut album, Asunción, on Waterpark in 2007. - All Music Guide
Pacifika is the multi-talented Silvana Kane, vocalist/composer and accomplished actress; Adam Popowitz, guitarist and skilled producer, adept at new wave, classical, and pop; and Toby Peter, bassist/drummer, explorer of jazz, hip-hop, and metal. Together they are making a new kind of world music... music that nods to its diverse international influences, while forging its own voice. Latin tinged, marked by gently flowing melodies, waves of crackling percussion, and the occasional burst of exhilarating guitar noise, Pacifika’s unique and complex sound defies categories. - Peery's Egyptian Theater
