Sports Car Club of America (SCCA)
The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) is America's largest organization for sports car racing. Founded in 1944, it now has more than 60,000 members and 110 regional chapters. The SCCA hosts more than 2,000 amateur and professional racing events each year. The Utah Region of the SCCA is our local regional chapter of the SCCA, and Miller Motorsports Park is their home track. Until MMP was built, the Utah Region primarily conducted autocross events (racing around cone-marked circuits in parking lots or airports), but now is evolving into a full-fledged road racing region.
The sixth annual Great Salt Race is a Double National event, meaning that there will be two sets of races (Saturday and Sunday) in which drivers will be eligible for National points that count toward qualification for the SCCA National Runoffs championship event. Drivers who wish to qualify for the Runoffs must run two National events out of their home region, meaning that a number of drivers from other regions will be here to compete. There will be drivers in a variety of classes, driving a wide variety of machinery, competing for trophies and championship points.
